Be kind to yourself
It is so easy to take care of others needs but forget to take care of yourself. I see this time and time again with friends and family, and of course I am guilty of it too. It really is just so much easier to worry about everyone else than it is to take a moment and give yourself what you need. I mean how can you justify taking time or money for yourself when everyone else could use it instead. Well, that is fine and good but you are going to end up hurting yourself. You are going to just over work and over stress yourself and that does impact your health and well being. This is not just a suggestion, it is a fact.
By taking on everyone else’s burden and ignoring your own needs you can become physically ill. So what are you supposed to do? Step 1: The first thing you need to do is love yourself. I am serious! you need to love yourself enough to understand that you are not perfect and that you are allowed to take a break once in a while. Step 2: you need to do is set time aside for yourself and not feel guilty about it. It doesn’t matter what you do during this time as long as it makes you happy. I take my time to go to the gym, bake, blog, sew, go for a walk, or whatever else I’m in the mood for. Step 3: enjoy this time, even if it is only for 15-30 minutes at first. Do this once or twice a week and you will feel the difference.
You will begin to feel refreshed and that will allow you to tackle the world. The first few times you do this you may be struck with a little guilt, but trust me there is nothing to feel guilty about. You are entitled to some time to yourself no matter what your situation is. You could be a parent, a partner, a spouse, or whatever and that honestly makes no difference. You are human (even if you like to pretend you are a super hero) and you will eventually burn out unless you take the time to recharge your battery. There is only one YOU in this world, don’t allow you light to go out. Take a break. Love yourself. Recharge your battery, and start again.
