Exercise of The Week: The Dead Bug

The Dead Bug

Step by step instructions for abs: Lie faceup with arms fully extended. (A) Hold the right arm and the left leg up. (B) Switch arm and leg. (C)

This month we are going to be focusing on doing some Ab workouts and just like last month these moves will become part of a 30 day challenge. This week we are going to have a little fun and do the Dead Bug. I really do not know if it has another name but either way I find this one fun. As usual I try and pick exercises that I can do at home because sometimes going to the gym is impossible. So how do we do this?

First you are going to lay down with your arms at your sides. Now fully extend both of your arms and legs into the air (you will feel it in your core). You should now look like A. See so far so good. Brace your core and hold the right arm up. Now, lower your left hand and at the same time drop your right leg to the ground make sure you do not touch the floor.  You should kind of look like B. Return to starting position and repeat this move on the other side, you should look like C. That is one rep. If you still are confused just (gross alert) imagine a bug that is dying and how it’s legs kick a little…as gross as it sounds that is kind of move you are trying to do. It may feel awkward at first but once you get into the rhythm you will do great. Add 1-2 sets of 10 reps to your regular workout.

About Eunice

I like to joke that I am "a well of useless information" but for once I can share that information with people that might want to listen. I love trying new things and now I have an audience to share it with...hopefully. I hope you enjoy what you read :)
