Exercise of The Week: Dumbbell Skier Swing
This week we are going to be working with some dumbbells for a little bit. As usual I try searching to web and my books to see if there are any exercises out there that could spice up my routine. It is very important that you change-up what you do once in a while so that you don’t begin to dread your workout. I found this lovely exercise in Women’s Health Magazine and think it is a really fun exercise to do. This exercise targets your shoulders, hamstrings, core and glutes (fancy word for butt) and it is really easy to do. And the best part is that you can do it in the comfort of your own living room! So how do you do it?
Start by holding a pair of dumbbells and standing with your feet shoulder width apart. Next push your hips back and raise your arms behind you at approximately a 45 degree angle. You should look like A. Now, thrust your hips forward and raise your arms up to shoulder level. (Pretend you are skiing) You should now look like B. In a nice smooth motion get back to starting position. They recommend doing 2-3 sets of 12. See, there is it nothing to it.
Good luck 🙂Other Exercises: Grasshopper Push Up Balance Fly Plank on an exercise ball Dumbbell Chop Dumbbell Swing Jackknife sit-up Bent Over Row 30 Day Fitness Challenges: Ax Chop Dumbbell swing Jackknife sit ups Russian Twist Just Abs Challenge Squats Dumbbell squat thrust
