Exercise of The Week: Reverse Fly
This week we will be focusing on arms. Arm workouts are great because you really don’t need fancy equipment, just a pair of dumbbells. I am the type of person that if I can do workouts at home in my bedroom or living room I am happy. This exercise allows me just that and while it looks easy you will feel it the next day. So let’s get down to business….how do you do these?
Start of with your feet below your shoulders, you do not want your legs close together for balance purposes. Make sure you keep your back straight, you should not be arching your back at all during this move. Hold a dumbbell (2-5lbs if you are just starting out, you can always increase later) in each hang and bend forward at your hips. You should look like A. Now, exhale as you lift both arms up to your sides and squeeze your shoulder blades together. You should look like picture B. Make sure that you still have a slight bend in your elbows, do not lock them. Now slowly lower the dumbbells back down like in A. This part is equally important. you want to have full control when you move your arms up and down to get the best results from this Exercise. Add 10 of these to your workout.
Remember when you begin to start working out for the first time it is good to start off slow and with lighter weights. I think this is the safest route to go because you really don’t know how your body will feel the next day. Plus you don’t want to accidentally hurt yourself. It is important that you focus on proper form and get that figured out before you start trying to lift a million pounds. And as always if something starts to hurt of doesn’t feel right, listen to your body.
