Body Image and the Stop The Beauty Madness Campaign
If you haven’t heard about it yet there is this wonderful campaign being launched called “Stop the Beauty Madness”. I am very excited about this because it is really showing that we have had enough with these ridiculous standards that are being set for women. You can go to their website if you click here. The women behind this campaign have created 25 different ads with various messages and each one is really moving. When you look at the images you can’t help but feel something. Finally, people are beginning to acknowledge that there is something wrong with how society expects women to look and act.
No one should have the ability to make you feel like you are not beautiful! No one should be able to set a standard and expect you to met it to get this title. It is upsetting and just unnecessary. Women come in all shapes and sizes…tall, short, curvy, skinny, etc etc. One body type is not more valuable than the other, and certainly does not define who you are as a person. There is so much more to you than your pant size or that elusive thigh gap. We keep getting bombarded with messages saying that we need lose ten more pounds and we will begin to start feeling pretty. That if we can fit into the micro bikini (and by the way really?! what is the point of those?!!) we will be sexy. Why are we allowing our selves to continue being treated like we are just objects? You are worth more than all of those things.
If you feel that you are more than your pant size you are not alone. There are more and more of us standing up and saying that enough is enough! If you want to learn more about the campaign click the image below and also check out their facebook page. It really is such a wonderful cause and a chance for all of us to make it known that we are worth so much more than a number on a scale.
Remember, above all else just remember that no matter what anyone says or thinks…you are beautiful!
